"You have to find a 'perfect church' which doesn't exist, so why bother trying?"
How it sounds in your head: You've tried five churches in two years. One was too big and impersonal, one was so small it felt like a family reunion you weren't invited to, one had great worship but terrible preaching, one had solid teaching but weird people. You're exhausted from church shopping and it feels easier to just watch sermons online and call it community.
"But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased."
-- 1 Corinthians 12:18Source: Consumerist mindset weaponized by the enemy to keep you perpetually dissatisfied and disconnected, treating church like a product instead of a family.
Every church you visit has something wrong—the music is too loud or too dead, the people are cliquey or overly friendly in a desperate way, the preaching is too shallow or so deep it's inaccessible. You've made pros and cons lists and nothing checks every box. Maybe the perfect fit just doesn't exist for you.
Ruth was a Moabite widow with NO logical reason to follow Naomi to Israel—different country, different god, zero prospects. She said 'Your people will be my people' and COMMITTED without knowing the outcome. Her decision to PLANT instead of shop led to her becoming the great-grandmother of David and ancestor of Jesus.
I REFUSE the lie that I need to find a perfect church before I can commit. IT IS WRITTEN that God SETS each member in the Body as He pleases, and He has a specific family for me that isn't about perfection but about PURPOSE. I will not treat church like a consumer product with a pros and cons list. IT IS WRITTEN that there is ONE body, and I am called to be a CONTRIBUTING member, not a critic in the audience. The Barak blessing flows through covenant COMMITMENT, not constant searching. I am PLANTED, not portable, and where I plant I will FLOURISH like a tree by streams of water.
The Father isn't waiting for you to find the perfect church—He's already preparing a family that's been praying for someone EXACTLY like you, with your specific gifts and story. He's running toward you saying 'Stop looking for perfect and start looking for YOURS—they're waiting and you're the missing piece they've been asking Me for.'
