"I've been hurt too many times to ever trust church community again."
How it sounds in your head: Three churches, three disasters. The first ignored my abuse disclosure. The second split over carpet color. The third had financial scandal. I'm done. God, yes. People, no.
"And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching."
-- Hebrews 10:24-25Trauma creating a vow of self-protection that isolates from the very community designed for flourishing.
The wounds are documented, not imagined. Each disappointment added another brick in the wall. At her age, she doesn't have energy for more betrayal. Isolation feels safer than risk.
Bitter, widowed, sons dead, telling people 'call me Mara because God dealt bitterly with me.' She had EVERY reason to isolate. But community surrounded her, Ruth stayed, and within ONE HARVEST SEASON she's holding her grandson, called BLESSED by the women, in the Messianic line.
I REFUSE the lie that isolation is safer than community. IT IS WRITTEN that two are better than one, and a threefold cord is not easily broken. My past church wounds are REAL, but they don't define God's future provision. I am not called to trust broken people perfectly; I'm called to receive FAMILY as Heaven designs it. IT IS WRITTEN to forsake not the assembling together—not as burden, but as LIFE. The BARAK blessing flowed even in dysfunctional families—Judah, Simeon, Levi—murderers and deceivers, yet blessed. I declare my Naomi-to-blessed-grandmother turnaround is ONE SEASON away. God is not asking me to trust institutions; He's inviting me to receive HIMSELF through imperfect people.
Your Father sees every wound and isn't asking you to 'get over it.' He's whispering, 'Let Me introduce you to the Ruth I've already assigned to your story—the community that will turn your Mara into blessed.'
