"If the church really loved me, they would have shown up when I needed them most."
How it sounds in your head: Your husband left, your mom died, you lost your job—and the people who said 'we're family' disappeared. No meals, no calls, no presence. Their absence in your crisis proved that all the 'love you, sister' was performance, and you were never actually part of the family.
"Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee."
-- Deuteronomy 31:6Source: Human failure weaponized by the enemy to convince you that absence equals worthlessness.
You have measurable evidence: empty inbox, silent phone, no one at the door. The people who promised community failed to show up, and the abandonment is factual, not imagined.
Pregnant, abused, abandoned in the wilderness by the very family that used her, dying of thirst with no one coming to help—utterly forsaken. The Angel of the Lord found her IMMEDIATELY, spoke destiny over her son, provided water, and she named Him 'the God who sees me'—instant rescue when humans abandoned.
I REFUSE the lie that human absence defines my worth. IT IS WRITTEN that the Lord my God will never fail me or forsake me, even when people do. Their failure to show up is THEIR failure, not my lack. IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed with the BARAK of Abraham—favored, seen, and provided for by covenant, not by human reliability. God saw Hagar when everyone else abandoned her, and He sees me. I am not forgotten, not forsaken, not alone. My Father never left.
Your Father was IN the crisis with you when no one else showed up—He was the strength you didn't know you had, the peace that made no sense, the provision that came from nowhere. And He's not done: He's preparing REAL family who know how to show up, and they're already on their way.
