"If God was real, He wouldn't allow such hypocrisy and abuse in His church."
How it sounds in your head: You watched leaders steal, saw predators protected, witnessed the vulnerable crushed while abusers got standing ovations. A real God wouldn't tolerate this in His house. Maybe it's all a lie.
"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men's bones and all uncleanness. Even so you also outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness."
-- Matthew 23:27-28Enemy uses human wickedness to create doubt about God's existence or character, making church failure evidence against God rather than evidence of human sin.
The abuse was REAL—financial corruption she witnessed, sexual misconduct covered up, vulnerable people she saw destroyed while leadership thrived. At her age, she's accumulated decades of evidence that seems to disprove a just God.
God showed Ezekiel the corrupt shepherds of Israel who fed themselves instead of the flock, scattered the sheep, and ruled with cruelty. God's response: 'I am AGAINST the shepherds and will remove them'—He judged wicked leaders and promised to shepherd His people HIMSELF.
I REFUSE the lie that church hypocrisy disproves God's existence or character. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus Himself called out religious hypocrites as whitewashed tombs—He KNOWS the corruption and promises judgment. Wicked leaders don't negate a holy God; they prove humans need a Savior. IT IS WRITTEN that God is AGAINST corrupt shepherds and will remove them. The church is flawed because PEOPLE are flawed, but Jesus is perfect. I will not let human failure steal my faith in a faithful God. He is RUNNING toward me with truth.
The Father is MORE grieved by church abuse than you are—every wound you suffered, He felt. He's not defending the abusers; He's removing them and healing the wounded. He's running toward you saying, 'I saw every injustice. I'm bringing vindication. Don't let their wickedness rob you of My love.'
