"Small groups and accountability just lead to gossip - my business becomes everyone's business."
How it sounds in your head: I shared about my parents fighting and next thing I know three different moms are asking my mom about it. I opened up about a guy and it became prayer request gossip. Vulnerability just gets weaponized.
"A talebearer reveals secrets, but he who is of a faithful spirit conceals a matter."
-- Proverbs 11:13Source: Trauma from broken confidentiality and religious systems that valued information over intimacy, mixed with enemy fear of true covenant community.
She has literal evidence - things she shared in confidence became prayer chain gossip. Her vulnerability was violated and she paid the social price. Trust was broken with receipts.
Rahab hid the Israelite spies - an act of treason that could have gotten her killed. The spies made COVENANT with her: 'Our lives for yours if you don't tell our business.' They kept the secret, protected her, and saved her whole family. Covenant keeps secrets and protects people.
I REFUSE the lie that vulnerability always leads to betrayal. IT IS WRITTEN that faithful people conceal matters and guard what's shared. I will not let past gossip close me off from COVENANT community that covers and protects. The BARAK blessing over my life includes divine friendships marked by FAITHFULNESS and trust. IT IS WRITTEN that a friend loves at all times - not when it's convenient or gossip-worthy, but ALWAYS. I am not called to spill my heart to everyone; I am called to find MY PEOPLE who guard what's sacred and fight for my heart. I will be KNOWN in safe places by SAFE PEOPLE. I am LOVED, PROTECTED, and covered by covenant relationships the Father is bringing.
The Father is running toward you saying, 'I know they spread what you trusted them with - that wasn't My heart. Let Me bring you friends who FIGHT to protect your story, not share it. I'm preparing COVENANT people who will guard your heart like it's their own.' He's not asking you to trust everyone - He's bringing you YOUR PEOPLE who are worthy of your heart.
