"If Jesus were really in that church, they wouldn't have treated me like that."
How it sounds in your head: I read about the Jesus who touched lepers and defended women caught in adultery. The Jesus I experienced in that church building ignored my pain and sided with my abuser. Either Jesus isn't who the Bible says, or He wasn't there.
"Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me."
-- Revelation 3:20Source: Trauma that conflated imperfect people with perfect Savior, creating crisis of faith that questions His character based on their failure.
The disconnect between biblical Jesus and church experience is glaring and painful. If He's present everywhere, why didn't He stop them from hurting you?
This woman spent everything on physicians—religious and medical authorities—who made her WORSE. Then she bypassed the whole system, touched Jesus' garment in a crowd, and was INSTANTLY healed. Jesus stopped everything to honor her and call her 'daughter.' One touch of the real Jesus undid twelve years of religious failure.
I REFUSE the lie that Jesus wasn't there or isn't real. IT IS WRITTEN that He stands at the door and knocks—He was OUTSIDE that toxic church, knocking on MY door. The failure of people doesn't change the faithfulness of Jesus. I am the righteousness of God in Christ—not because a church validated it, but because HE declared it. IT IS WRITTEN that He's the same yesterday, today, and forever—the Jesus who defended the adulteress is defending ME. I declare the BARAK blessing over my faith—Jesus is revealing Himself outside the building, in the secret place, face to face. I am His beloved, and He's making Himself KNOWN to me.
Jesus was weeping outside that church building the whole time, watching them wound His daughter, waiting for you to discover He's not contained in their four walls. He's been standing at your door, wanting to show you who He REALLY is, separate from them.
