"The church only wants my money and my labor, not the real me."
How it sounds in your head: Every sermon ended with a financial appeal. Every phone call was a request to serve somewhere. When I was going through hell at home, crickets. But when the building fund needed support, suddenly I mattered. They wanted my wallet and my work, not my heart.
"The LORD your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing."
-- Zephaniah 3:17Source: Religious consumerism that treats people as resources, twisted into belief that God only values your productivity.
The asks for money and service were constant and public, while personal care felt rare and private. The imbalance created a transactional feeling you can't shake.
Mary poured out expensive perfume on Jesus' feet—pure worship, zero productivity. Judas immediately criticized it as wasteful and said the money should've gone to the poor. Jesus defended her extravagance and said her worship would be remembered forever. Worship over work. Presence over production.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm only valuable for my wallet or work. IT IS WRITTEN that God rejoices over ME with singing—not my service, not my tithe, but ME. I am the righteousness of God in Christ, and my identity is BELOVED, not worker. The Father quiets me with His love, not His to-do list. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus defended extravagant worship over practical service—He wants my HEART, not just my hands. I declare the BARAK blessing over my life—I am pursued for relationship, cherished for who I AM, and celebrated for simply being His daughter. My worth is not in what I produce.
Father is singing over you this very second—not because you showed up or gave sacrificially, but because you're His. The sound of His singing drowns out every religious demand for your performance.
