"God will think I'm greedy if I ask for more than basic needs."
How it sounds in your head: Food, shelter, basic transportation—that's what you should pray for. Asking for more feels presumptuous. Who are you to want abundance when missionaries are praying for clean water? Your desires feel indulgent compared to what others lack.
"Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us."
-- Ephesians 3:20Religious teaching that God is stingy and only provides minimums, contradicting His nature as abundant Father.
You've heard prayers for 'daily bread' held up as the model of humble petition. Asking for more than survival feels like testing God or being materialistic.
Solomon asked for wisdom, and God said 'because you didn't ask for riches, I'm giving you riches AND wisdom—more wealth than any king before or after.' God gave the unasked abundance instantly.
I REFUSE the lie that God thinks I'm greedy for wanting more. IT IS WRITTEN that my Father does exceedingly abundantly above all I ask or think. He doesn't give minimums—He gives overflow. IT IS WRITTEN that I don't have because I don't ask. My Father delights in my asking BIG. The BARAK blessing isn't for survival—it's for being the head and not the tail, above only and not beneath. Solomon got unasked wealth because God is GENEROUS. I ask boldly because my Father runs toward me with abundance, not rationing.
Your Father isn't rationing blessings or keeping a tally of your requests. He's the God who turned water into 180 gallons of finest wine at a party, not because they needed it but because He's extravagant.
