"God is more concerned with my soul than my comfort at this age."
How it sounds in your head: I should be focused on spiritual things now, not whether I'm comfortable or have what I need. Physical comfort doesn't matter when I'm about to meet Jesus. Wanting better care or less pain feels carnal.
"You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over."
-- Psalm 23:5Source: Greek dualism that separates body and soul, making physical needs less important than spiritual ones.
Religious teaching created a hierarchy where spiritual trumps physical, making her feel worldly for wanting physical comfort in her final days.
Crippled, hiding in poverty, enemy's grandson—David brought him to the palace and he ate at the king's table CONTINUALLY for the rest of his life. Physical provision, comfort, and honor were part of covenant restoration.
I REFUSE the lie that God only cares about my soul and not my body. IT IS WRITTEN that He prepares a TABLE before me, anoints my head with OIL, makes my cup OVERFLOW—physical comfort and provision are part of His care. Jesus healed BODIES and saved SOULS—He's not either/or. IT IS WRITTEN that He gives me richly ALL THINGS to enjoy—not just spiritual things, ALL THINGS. I receive physical comfort, excellent care, and abundant provision as part of my covenant inheritance. My Father cares about EVERY part of me.
Your Father isn't waiting for you to transcend physical needs. He's running toward you with BOTH spiritual peace AND physical comfort—a prepared table, anointing oil, an overflowing cup. He wants your final days filled with HIS GOODNESS in every way.
