"I don't deserve nice things because I haven't worked hard enough yet."
How it sounds in your head: Other people who have nice things earned them through years of grinding and sacrifice. I'm just a kid. I haven't put in the time or effort. I need to prove myself first before I deserve anything good.
"Is it not lawful for me to do what I wish with my own things? Or is your eye evil because I am good?"
-- Matthew 20:15Performance-based worthiness - the oldest lie from Eden that you must EARN what God freely GIVES.
He sees adults who worked decades to achieve stability and thinks he has to repeat that timeline. Youth culture and work-ethic sermons make him believe provision must be earned through sweat.
Isaac didn't build his father's wealth - he INHERITED it. He sowed in famine and reaped a hundredfold THE SAME YEAR. He became so wealthy the Philistines envied him. Not because he worked harder - because he carried the BARAK by birthright.
I REFUSE the lie that I must earn blessings through hard work. IT IS WRITTEN that God does what He wants with His own things, and His nature is GENEROUS. The last-hour workers got full pay - grace doesn't calculate hours or effort. IT IS WRITTEN that by grace I am saved through faith, NOT of works. The BARAK blessing isn't earned - it's INHERITED. Isaac was blessed FROM BIRTH. I am Abraham's seed through Christ - the blessing is MINE by covenant, not by performance. I don't work FOR the blessing - I work FROM the blessing that's already mine. My Father loads me daily with benefits because I'm His SON, not because I've proven worthy. Sonship is POSITION, not performance. I receive abundance guilt-free because grace means UNEARNED favor. If I earned it, it wouldn't be grace - it would be wages.
Your Father is running toward you while you're still in the pig pen, BEFORE you've cleaned up or proven anything. He's putting the ring on your finger while you still smell like failure because sonship isn't about what you've done - it's about whose you ARE.
