"I should be sacrificing and struggling like 'real' Christians do."
How it sounds in your head: Every missionary story is about sacrifice—living on beans and rice, fundraising constantly, barely surviving. That's 'real' ministry. Meanwhile I want a stable income and comfort. So I feel like a lesser Christian. Like the comfortable ones aren't the 'real' ones.
"And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work."
-- 2 Corinthians 9:8Source: religion. Martyr theology that equates suffering with spirituality and comfort with compromise.
Church elevates the broke missionary and questions the prosperous businessman. You've heard 'take up your cross' twisted into 'stay broke for Jesus.' Struggle is praised. Thriving is suspect.
Lydia was a 'seller of purple'—expensive fabric, meaning she was WEALTHY. When Paul preached, she believed and immediately used her HOUSE and RESOURCES to host the church. God didn't make her sell everything—He used her ABUNDANCE for kingdom impact.
I REFUSE the lie that real Christians must struggle. IT IS WRITTEN that God gives me ALL SUFFICIENCY in all things and ABUNDANCE for every good work—not scarcity, ABUNDANCE. I am Abraham's seed, walking in the BARAK blessing that overtakes me. Christ redeemed me from poverty so I could live in covenant prosperity. IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed in the city and in the field, coming in and going out. Lydia was wealthy and used her abundance for ministry—so can I. The Father gave the prodigal the BEST robe, not a servant's rag. I am a SON, and abundance allows me to bless MORE, not less. Struggling doesn't make me holy—abiding in the Vine does, and blessing is FRUIT. I walk in overflow without apology.
The Father isn't asking you to be broke to prove you love Him—He already KNOWS. Right now He's positioning you for increase because He wants to flow THROUGH you to others, and you can't give from empty. He's about to fill you up so you can pour out.
