"God is using this eating disorder to break my pride and self-reliance."
How it sounds in your head: I was too confident in my appearance before this. Maybe God needed to humble me through hating my body. The struggle keeps me broken before Him.
"I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well."
-- Psalm 139:14Religion taught that God attacks your strengths to keep you humble, making Him the author of self-hatred instead of the enemy.
The disorder started when life felt most in control, so it seems like divine intervention to create dependence. The brokenness feels spiritually productive.
He was crippled, hiding in shame, convinced he deserved nothing from the king. David IMMEDIATELY restored him to the king's table, gave him all of Saul's land, and treated him like a son—shame to honor in one conversation.
I REFUSE the lie that God authored this eating disorder to break my pride. IT IS WRITTEN that I am fearfully and wonderfully made. My body is not the enemy's sculpture—it's my Father's masterpiece. God doesn't use self-hatred as a discipleship method. He doesn't humble me by making me war with His own creation. IT IS WRITTEN that my body is a temple of the Holy Spirit. I am loved, accepted, and beautiful because HE made me, not because I earned it.
The Father is running toward you with the robe that covers shame, not standing back watching you starve to learn humility. He's whispering 'fearfully and wonderfully made' over every part of you that you've hated.
