"My autoimmune disease is God's sovereignty—questioning it means I don't trust His plan for my life."
How it sounds in your head: My own immune system is attacking my body. Doctors say it's incurable, just 'manageable.' Adults say 'God is sovereign' and 'His ways are higher,' which sounds holy but feels like I'm not allowed to want healing. Maybe asking God to heal me is actually doubting His perfect plan. Maybe this disease IS His will, and faith means accepting it, not fighting it.
"How God anointed Jesus of nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him."
-- Acts 10:38Source: Hyper-Calvinist theology that attributes everything to God's 'mysterious sovereignty,' creating guilt around pursuing healing or questioning suffering.
The language of God's 'perfect plan' and 'sovereignty' is everywhere in church culture, making it sound like wanting healing is the same as rejecting God's will. When well-meaning people say 'God allowed this,' it reinforces that pursuing healing is fighting against God rather than partnering with Him.
Disciples asked if blindness was caused by the man's sin or his parents' sin—seeking theological explanation. Jesus said NEITHER—'but that the works of God should be revealed in him,' then immediately HEALED him with spit-mud and a command. God's 'work revealed' was HEALING, not lifelong blindness with a lesson attached. Instant healing was the Father's will.
I REFUSE the lie that my autoimmune disease is Father's sovereign plan. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus healed ALL who were oppressed by the devil, and God was WITH Him in that healing—sickness is DEVIL'S work, healing is GOD'S will. Jesus came to DESTROY the works of the devil (1 John 3:8), not enshrine them as 'mysterious sovereignty.' Questioning disease is not doubting God—it's AGREEING with Jesus' ministry. IT IS WRITTEN that by His stripes I WAS healed (Isaiah 53:5). I am Abraham's seed; the BARAK covers me even when others were liars and murderers. My immune system will recognize friend from foe. I receive complete healing RIGHT NOW—not as presumption, but as COVENANT RIGHT.
Your Father is not the author of your immune system attacking itself—He's the Healer who's been fighting FOR your body since before you knew you were sick. He's not offended by your desire for healing; He PUT that desire in you because it reflects HIS heart, and He's already declared your body whole through Jesus' finished work on the cross.
