"Real spiritual authority requires fasting and disciplines I can no longer do."
How it sounds in your head: I can barely eat as it is. I can't fast. I can't do long prayers. I can't do the disciplines that create powerful prayer warriors. Without those practices, how can I have real authority? I'm too physically limited.
"For if by the one man's offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ."
-- Romans 5:17Religious works-theology making authority dependent on disciplines instead of finished work and gift of righteousness.
Physical limitations prevent religious practices. Can't fast when struggling to eat. Can't do long prayers when exhausted. Looks like he can't 'earn' spiritual power anymore.
The dying thief couldn't fast, couldn't pray long prayers, couldn't perform any spiritual discipline. He was NAILED to a cross. Yet Jesus gave him Paradise that very day based on simple faith, not performance. Full authority without a single discipline.
I REFUSE the lie that authority requires disciplines I can't do. IT IS WRITTEN that I REIGN in life through the GIFT of righteousness - it's received, not earned. My authority is based on what CHRIST did, not what I do. IT IS WRITTEN that I am the righteousness of God IN HIM - that's my POSITION, regardless of my practices. The BARAK blessing flows by COVENANT, not by fasting frequency. I don't earn authority through discipline - I WALK in authority through IDENTITY. Whether I can fast or not, whether I can pray for hours or not, I am SEATED with Christ in heavenly places. My union with Him gives me FULL authority apart from any work. I am complete IN HIM.
The Father doesn't measure your authority by your disciplines. He sees you IN CHRIST - that's the only measurement that matters. Your physical limitations don't limit your spiritual position. You reign because you RECEIVED grace as a gift, not because you earned it through practices.
