"Real men don't care about their appearance or body"
How it sounds in your head: Caring about how I look is vain and weak. Guys who worry about their body are feminine. I should just ignore it and tough it out. Struggling with body image makes me less of a man.
"Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's."
-- 1 Corinthians 6:19-20Toxic masculinity demanding emotional suppression and denying stewarding God's temple
Cultural messages equate caring about appearance with weakness. He fears being seen as vain or feminine. Admitting body image struggles feels like surrendering masculinity.
Daniel intentionally chose specific food for his body, refusing the king's portion. God honored his stewardship—Daniel and his friends appeared healthier and better nourished than everyone else after just 10 days.
I REFUSE the lie that caring about my body is unmanly. IT IS WRITTEN that my body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, and I glorify God in my body. Stewardship of what God calls temple is biblical masculinity. I am under the Abrahamic blessing—blessed in my body, above only and not beneath. IT IS WRITTEN that I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Caring for my body honors the One who created it.
Your Father didn't give you a body to ignore. Daniel stewarded his body intentionally and God blessed him with health and favor. Your Father invites you to care for His temple as an act of worship, not weakness.
