"If I eat that, I'll lose all control and won't be able to stop."
How it sounds in your head: One bite becomes the whole box. One cookie becomes a binge. I can't trust myself around food. I'm either restricting or out of control - there's no middle ground. Food has power over me.
"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."
-- 2 Timothy 1:7Source: Enemy twisting self-control into self-punishment, turning food into moral categories of good/evil.
You've experienced restrict-binge cycles where deprivation led to overconsumption, so your brain now fears ANY indulgence as the beginning of chaos.
When Israel gathered manna, those who gathered much had nothing left over, and those who gathered little had no lack - everyone had exactly enough. God REGULATED their provision supernaturally. He's fully capable of regulating your appetite too.
I REFUSE the lie that food controls me or that I'm powerless around certain foods. IT IS WRITTEN that God has given me a spirit of POWER, LOVE, and a SOUND MIND - not fear or chaos. Food is a gift, not a god. IT IS WRITTEN that whether I eat or drink, I do it to God's glory. I am a branch on the Vine, and self-control is FRUIT, not effort. The Holy Spirit IN me regulates my appetites. I am blessed coming in and going out, blessed in my eating and blessed in my freedom. I eat in PEACE, not panic.
Your Father isn't standing over you with a clipboard tracking every bite, waiting for you to fail. He's inviting you to the TABLE - the same one He prepared in the presence of your enemies. He's offering you ABUNDANCE and teaching you that you can trust yourself because His Spirit lives in you.
