"My faith wasn't strong enough to receive healing, so now I'm dying"
How it sounds in your head: I prayed for decades. Read the books. Believed the best I could. But here I am in this hospital bed anyway. If I'd just had more faith, I wouldn't be facing death like this. My weak faith is why God didn't heal me.
"Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, 'Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!'"
-- Mark 9:24Religion taught faith is a WORK you perform to earn miracles, making God's power contingent on your mental effort instead of His nature.
You see others healed and wonder what they had that you lacked. The medical decline feels like proof your faith failed the test.
Thomas REFUSED to believe Jesus rose unless he physically touched the wounds - the ultimate doubt. Jesus appeared specifically for Thomas, invited him to touch, and called him blessed WITHOUT rebuke for his week of unbelief.
I REFUSE the lie that my faith performance determines God's healing power. IT IS WRITTEN that the father with unbelief still saw his son healed - Jesus responds to desperate honesty, not perfect confidence. My Father runs toward me WITH the ring, robe, and celebration while I'm still covered in doubt and fear. IT IS WRITTEN in Ephesians 2:8 that faith itself is 'the GIFT of God' - not something I manufacture. I am the BRANCH; He is the VINE - fruit comes from CONNECTION, not my straining effort. The BARAK blessing protects me by COVENANT through Christ's blood, not by my mental performance.
Your Father sees you in that bed and His heart breaks WITH you, not AT you. He's not withholding healing because your faith meter didn't hit 100% - He's the Father who RAN to the prodigal reeking of pigs and threw a party for doubt-filled Thomas.
