"My doubt cancels out my prayers and proves I'm not really a believer at all."
How it sounds in your head: I pray but immediately wonder if it'll work. That's doubt, and Jesus cursed the fig tree with perfect faith. My doubting thoughts must erase every prayer I speak. I'm probably not even saved.
"Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, 'Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!'"
-- Mark 9:24Religious lie that doubt disqualifies you, when Jesus Himself made room for doubt in His followers without rejecting them.
He feels the internal conflict between wanting to believe and questioning if anything's real. He's heard 'doubt nothing' sermons that made his honest questions feel like apostasy.
Thomas refused to believe the resurrection without physical proof for eight full days. When Jesus appeared, He didn't rebuke him—He INVITED him to touch the wounds and Thomas declared 'My Lord and my God!' Doubt transformed to worship in one encounter.
I REFUSE the lie that doubt erases my identity as God's son. IT IS WRITTEN that a man cried 'I believe; help my unbelief' and Jesus healed his son THAT MOMENT. My honest questions don't threaten God—He's big enough for my doubts. IT IS WRITTEN that Thomas doubted for days and Jesus still called him 'My disciple' and invited him close. I am seated IN CHRIST, and no thought in my head can unseat me from that position. The BARAK blessing covers me even when my mind races with questions. God is not fragile—my faith is SAFE in His hands.
The Father isn't scandalized by your questions—He's the one who gave you a mind that asks them. He doesn't wait for certainty; He meets you in the mess like He met Thomas in the doubt.
