"I should have planned better. My physical limitations are consequences of poor health choices I made decades ago."
How it sounds in your head: If you'd eaten better, exercised more, taken care of yourself, maybe you wouldn't be here. This is YOUR fault. You did this to yourself, and now you're paying for it. Reaping what you sowed.
"Through the Lord's mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness."
-- Lamentations 3:22-23Religion weaponizing 'sowing and reaping' as KARMA instead of grace, making present suffering punishment for past decisions and ignoring the blood of Jesus that REMOVES consequences.
You can trace decisions—smoking, drinking, stress, poor diet. The doctors implied it. The consequences feel deserved, and shame agrees.
Blew his entire inheritance on prostitutes and wild living—direct consequences of HIS choices. Came home expecting servanthood. Got robe, ring, sandals, and fatted calf INSTANTLY—no process, no payment plan, no 'earn it back.'
I REFUSE the lie that I'm paying for past poor choices. IT IS WRITTEN that His mercies are NEW every morning—TODAY is a new day, and the past is under the BLOOD. Christ redeemed me from the CURSE, including consequences I 'earned.' IT IS WRITTEN that there is NO condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. The prodigal wasted everything and got a party; David murdered and got mercy. I am the righteousness of God in Christ, blessed with the BARAK that doesn't grade on health decisions, and the Father is RUNNING toward me with restoration, not shame. My body may show wear, but my IDENTITY is whole, holy, and FORGIVEN.
The Father isn't making you 'pay' for past decisions. He's the God of NEW MERCIES, fresh every morning, and He's already decided to RUN toward you with the robe, not the lecture.
