THE LIE Disability & Limitation
"God is punishing me for something I did decades ago."

How it sounds in your head: I made mistakes when I was young. That abortion. That affair. Maybe this disability is God's justice. Maybe I deserve this suffering. The bill always comes due eventually.

"And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross."

Enemy whispers: Your suffering is payment for old sins. BUT IT IS WRITTEN: Colossians 2:13-14 - 'He has FORGIVEN you ALL trespasses, having WIPED OUT the handwriting of requirements that was against us... having NAILED IT TO THE CROSS.' The bill was PAID. Jesus took the punishment. God isn't keeping score—the record was ERASED at Calvary. Your past sin does NOT cause present suffering. You are FORGIVEN, period.

WHERE THIS LIE COMES FROM

Religious teaching presents God as cosmic accountant keeping score, making people believe suffering is divine payback for past sin despite the cross.

Why this feels true:

She carries guilt from decades ago that was never truly resolved in her heart. The disability feels like evidence that God hasn't really forgiven, hasn't really forgotten.

Woman caught in adultery

Caught IN THE ACT of adultery, dragged before Jesus and accusers, about to be stoned according to law. Jesus said 'Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.' ZERO punishment, IMMEDIATE forgiveness, COMPLETE release. No process, no penance, no payment required.

THE GRACE REVEALED
But God actually:

The Father who forgave the adulteress caught IN THE ACT holds NOTHING against you. Like the prodigal who was embraced despite squandering everything on prostitutes, you are RUN TOWARD, not punished. The cross CANCELLED every debt. Your suffering is NOT divine payback—Jesus already took that.
