"I have to work twice as hard to prove I'm just as capable and valuable."
How it sounds in your head: You have to be BETTER than everyone else just to be seen as EQUAL. You can't afford mistakes—they'll blame your disability. You have to outperform, over-function, never show weakness, never ask for help. Exhaustion is the price of being taken seriously.
"And He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
-- 2 Corinthians 12:9World's performance-based value system and internalized ableism that equates worth with productivity.
She's watched people underestimate her abilities. She's felt the need to prove herself in every new situation. Any struggle gets attributed to her disability, not to normal human limitation. The pressure to perform flawlessly is relentless.
Gideon had 32,000 soldiers—God said, 'Too many; they'll think they won by their own strength.' God reduced the army to 300 and gave INSTANT victory over 135,000 enemies. The weakness was the SETUP for God's power to be undeniable. Victory came through reduction, not striving.
I REFUSE the lie that I have to earn value through performance or prove myself to anyone! IT IS WRITTEN that God's grace is sufficient and His strength is made perfect in my weakness—I don't need to hide limitations or strive for approval. My value is GIFT, not achievement; I am the righteousness of God in Christ APART from works. IT IS WRITTEN that there is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus, and I will not condemn myself for needing accommodations or having limits. The Abrahamic blessing flows through my life because of COVENANT, not capability. I declare rest over striving, grace over performance, and I receive the Father's delight not because I've proven anything but because I am His beloved daughter—complete, accepted, cherished exactly as I am.
Your Father is running toward you not because you've worked hard enough to deserve it but because you are HIS—ring, robe, sandals, party, all while you're still exhausted from trying to prove yourself. He's saying, 'Stop striving. You're already mine. You're already enough. Come rest.'
