"I have to introduce myself by my limitations so people don't expect too much"
How it sounds in your head: You lead with your diagnosis—'I can't do that because of my...' It's self-protection, managing expectations. If you tell them upfront what you can't do, they won't be disappointed or think you're lazy. Your condition becomes your excuse, your shield, your identity.
"And He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
-- 2 Corinthians 12:9Self-imposed agreement with limitation as protection, using disease as identity shield.
It prevents awkward moments when you have to bow out. It explains why you're different, slower, unable. If they know upfront, they can't judge you. Your limitation becomes your acceptable excuse for not being enough.
Everyone knew him as 'blind Bartimaeus'—his limitation was his identity, his name included his disability. One encounter with Jesus and he IMMEDIATELY received sight, threw off his beggar's garment, and followed Jesus—NEW IDENTITY, same day.
I REFUSE to introduce myself by limitations or lead with diagnosis. IT IS WRITTEN in 2 Corinthians 12:9 that God's STRENGTH is made PERFECT in my weakness—I showcase POWER, not limitation. I am not 'the guy who can't because of...'—I am a DISPLAY of resurrection life. IT IS WRITTEN in Philippians 4:13 that I can do ALL THINGS through Christ who strengthens me. I carry the BARAK blessing that makes me the HEAD not the TAIL, ABOVE not beneath. My introduction is 'I am a son of God, heir of Abraham, carrier of covenant blessing.' Limitation is circumstance, not identity. I lead with STRENGTH.
The Father doesn't want you managing expectations or hiding behind diagnosis. He wants you BOLD, declaring strength, showcasing His power in your weakness. While you're protecting yourself with limitations, He's positioning you as EVIDENCE of His goodness that makes others hungry for breakthrough.
