"God is punishing me for something I did. This sickness is what I deserve."
How it sounds in your head: I've made mistakes—big ones. Maybe this illness is payback, reaping what I sowed. Maybe God is evening the scales, and I just have to endure what I earned.
"And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross."
-- Colossians 2:13-14Religious lie rooted in Old Covenant law and karma theology, erasing the cross and putting her back under works-based punishment.
She remembers specific sins from decades ago and wonders if God is finally collecting. Preachers quoted 'you reap what you sow' and it sounded biblical, and her guilt makes punishment feel logical even though Jesus already took it.
A criminal, guilty, literally being executed for his crimes—he had ZERO time to make amends, do penance, or clean up his life. Jesus said, 'TODAY you will be with Me in Paradise'—instant forgiveness, instant salvation, zero punishment, all grace.
I REFUSE the lie that this sickness is punishment! IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus NAILED the handwriting against me to the cross—there is NO record of wrongs, NO divine payback, NO cosmic karma. I am not reaping judgment; I am reaping MERCY. IT IS WRITTEN that there is NO condemnation for those in Christ Jesus—NONE. Like the thief on the cross who deserved death but received Paradise in one moment, I receive forgiveness, healing, and BLESSING not because I earned it but because HE BLED FOR IT. I declare: the cross canceled my debt, and I am FREE!
The Father isn't punishing you—He punished JESUS in your place 2,000 years ago and declared the case CLOSED. Like the thief who went from execution to Paradise in hours with no rehabilitation program, you're not earning your way out of sickness—you're receiving the gift of healing from a Father who nailed your guilt to a tree and remembers your sin no more.
