"I can't rest until everyone else is okay because that's what good leaders do."
How it sounds in your head: People are texting you their crises at 2am and you have to respond because they need you. Your needs can wait until everyone else is stable. Self-care is selfish when people are hurting.
"It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows; for so He gives His beloved sleep."
-- Psalm 127:2World's savior complex making you responsible for fixing everyone, rather than pointing them to the One who already did.
You've seen people's pain and feel guilty resting when they're suffering. The weight of their problems feels like your responsibility to carry.
Moses sat judging Israel's problems from morning until evening, thinking he had to handle everything alone. His father-in-law said, 'This thing you do is NOT GOOD. You will surely wear yourselves out.' God provided 70 elders to SHARE the load Moses thought only he could carry—INSTANT systemic change.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm responsible for fixing everyone before I rest. IT IS WRITTEN that my sleepless striving is VAIN and God gives His beloved SLEEP as a gift of love. I am not the savior—Jesus already finished that work, and I can't improve on 'It is finished.' IT IS WRITTEN that there is NO CONDEMNATION in Christ, so I reject guilt for having limits. I declare the Abrahamic BARAK over my boundaries—blessed coming in and going out, even when I say NO to others' emergencies. The blessing covered Abraham whether he was working or RESTING in his tent. I am loved by the Father for being His daughter, not for being everyone's savior, and daughters are celebrated for RESTING in the Father's care.
The Father sees you drowning in others' needs while ignoring your own, and He's pulling you out with PERMISSION to rest—not after everyone's okay, but NOW, because you're His beloved. The prodigal rested in the Father's house doing NOTHING for anyone, and the Father celebrated.
