"Healing miracles ended with the apostles. That was just for starting the church."
How it sounds in your head: You see people online claiming miracles but it feels fake. Your youth pastor says we have the Bible now so we don't need signs. Sounds more responsible than believing in magic.
"Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever."
-- Hebrews 13:8Source: Cessationist theology protecting against disappointment and charismatic excess
You've prayed for stuff and didn't see instant results, so maybe God just doesn't work that way anymore. The cessationist argument sounds intellectual and keeps you from looking foolish.
Aeneas was paralyzed and bedridden for eight years—nearly a decade of immobility. Peter said 'Jesus Christ heals you' and IMMEDIATELY he arose, no physical therapy, no process.
I REFUSE the lie that healing died with the apostles. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus Christ is the SAME yesterday, today, and forever—His healing power didn't expire in 100 AD. I am under the BARAK blessing where God commands blessing on everything I set my hand to, including my physical body. IT IS WRITTEN that by His stripes I WAS healed—past tense, finished work. I receive the SAME healing power that raised Lazarus, that opened blind eyes, that made the lame walk. My God does not retire His promises based on calendars.
The Father is running toward you with the SAME healing power that flowed through Jesus in Galilee—it didn't diminish, didn't retire, didn't become 'symbolic only.' He's prepared the ring of authority and the robe of identity so you can walk in the FULL power of His unchanging nature RIGHT NOW.
