"God hasn't answered because I'm not fasting and praying like I should"
How it sounds in your head: The disciples couldn't cast out the demon until Jesus said 'this kind only comes out by prayer and fasting.' I haven't fasted in months. That's why nothing's breaking through.
"Is this not the fast that I have chosen: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke?"
-- Isaiah 58:6Legalistic interpretation of spiritual disciplines as currency to purchase God's movement
She's heard Matthew 17:21 used to explain why prayers fail—if you're not fasting, you haven't paid the price. Breakthrough feels locked behind disciplines she can't maintain with her schedule.
After 12 years bleeding and spending all her money on doctors, she didn't fast or prepare—she pushed through a crowd in her unclean state and touched Jesus' hem. IMMEDIATELY she was healed.
I REFUSE the lie that fasting purchases breakthrough. IT IS WRITTEN that God's chosen fast is about loosing bonds and breaking yokes—which Jesus ALREADY DID at the cross. I am not earning miracles through disciplines; I am BRANCH abiding in the VINE, and fruit comes from CONNECTION not credentials. IT IS WRITTEN in Galatians 3:13 that Christ REDEEMED me from the curse—past tense, finished—not 'will redeem you after you fast enough.' The woman hemorrhaging for 12 years didn't fast before her instant healing. My breakthrough is based on HIS finished work.
The Father isn't withholding breakthrough until you complete a spiritual checklist—He already released everything at the cross and is running toward you with answers before you discipline yourself into worthiness. Fasting doesn't change God's willingness; He's already willing.
