"God gave me this addiction to keep me humble and dependent on Him."
How it sounds in your head: I prayed for healing from prescription pills for years. Nothing changed. Maybe Paul had his thorn, and this is mine. Maybe God keeps me struggling so I don't get proud. The pain keeps me on my knees. Perhaps this addiction is His tool to keep me close.
"The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."
-- John 10:10Source: religious teaching that God authors sickness and bondage as sanctification tools, making Him the source of curse instead of blessing.
Unanswered prayers for years create a theology to explain the lack—'God must want this for me'—rather than recognizing enemy resistance or simply receiving by faith what's already given.
A woman had a spirit of infirmity for 18 years, bent over and unable to stand straight. Jesus said SATAN had bound her, not God teaching her humility—and He loosed her IMMEDIATELY, and she glorified God, standing straight after nearly two decades of bondage.
I REFUSE the lie that God authors my addiction for my good. IT IS WRITTEN: The thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came to give me ABUNDANT LIFE. Satan is the binder; Jesus is the LOOSER. IT IS WRITTEN: Whom the Son sets free is free INDEED. God doesn't keep me humble through bondage—He keeps me secure through LOVE. My Father gives GOOD gifts, not chains. The BARAK blessing is FREEDOM from the curse—sickness, bondage, oppression are under the curse, and Christ REDEEMED me from it. I receive LIFE, FREEDOM, and ABUNDANCE NOW.
The Father isn't keeping you in chains to teach you dependency—He's smashing the chains Himself to show you His GOODNESS. He's running toward you with keys to unlock every prison door, not because you've learned enough but because He's a GOOD FATHER who delights in His children's freedom.
