"Christians can't have demons, so this oppression means I was never really saved."
How it sounds in your head: I made a decision for Christ at 19, but now at 73 I feel such darkness and oppression. They say Christians can't be demon-possessed, so maybe I was never truly saved. Maybe I need to get saved again, but what if it doesn't work this time either?
"And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand."
-- John 10:28-29Source: religious debate about whether Christians can 'have' demons creates existential crisis where any spiritual struggle equals questioning salvation itself.
The teaching that 'real Christians don't struggle with demonic oppression' makes every attack feel like proof of failed salvation rather than proof of being a threat to darkness.
Jesus told Peter directly: 'Satan has ASKED to sift you as wheat. But I have PRAYED for you, that your faith should not fail.' Believer Peter was actively targeted by Satan - Jesus didn't question Peter's salvation, He confirmed His intercession.
I REFUSE the lie that spiritual oppression means I was never saved. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus gives me eternal life and I shall NEVER perish, and no one can snatch me from His hand. I am sealed by the Holy Spirit, adopted as a daughter, and my name is written in the Lamb's Book of Life. Demonic attack doesn't prove lost salvation - it proves I'm a threat to darkness. IT IS WRITTEN that the Father is greater than all, and nothing can separate me from the love of God in Christ Jesus. My salvation is not based on how I FEEL but on what Jesus DID.
The Father isn't questioning your salvation because you're under attack - He's interceding for you like Jesus interceded for Peter. He's running toward you with the truth that being targeted proves you belong to Him, because darkness doesn't waste ammunition on its own.
