"These voices and compulsions mean I'm not truly saved or the Holy Spirit left me."
How it sounds in your head: If I really had the Holy Spirit, I wouldn't have these blasphemous thoughts, these urges, these voices telling me to do things. Maybe I was never truly saved. Maybe God withdrew His Spirit because I went too far.
"In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory."
-- Ephesians 1:13-14Enemy exploiting intrusive thoughts and mental health symptoms to question salvation, using presence of struggle as proof of God's absence.
The thoughts are SO contrary to your faith that they feel like evidence of a different spirit. If the Holy Spirit were present, surely these wouldn't exist.
Peter CURSED and DENIED Jesus three times—the ultimate betrayal. Jesus didn't say 'you've lost salvation' but 'I have PRAYED for you that your faith should not fail.' After resurrection, Jesus IMMEDIATELY restored him with no probation period. The relationship was NEVER broken.
I REFUSE the lie that intrusive thoughts or confusion indicate I've lost salvation or the Holy Spirit has left. IT IS WRITTEN: I was SEALED with the Holy Spirit when I believed—He is the GUARANTEE who stays until I'm home. No thought, no confusion, no mental symptom can break that SEAL. IT IS WRITTEN: Jesus will never leave me nor forsake me. I am not defined by the battles in my mind but by the BLOOD that purchased me. I stand in COVENANT—the BARAK blessing that protected Jacob even when he deceived. My salvation rests on JESUS' FAITHFULNESS, not my mental clarity. The Holy Spirit DWELLS in me permanently.
The Father doesn't evict the Holy Spirit because your brain is in turmoil any more than He leaves when you have the flu. The SEAL was placed by His decision, not your perfection, and He doesn't change His mind when you're struggling at 90.
