"At my age, chronic pain is just normal—I should expect my body to break down."
How it sounds in your head: I'm not twenty anymore. This is just what happens in your fifties. Everyone my age has something wrong. I need to accept that youth and health are behind me. The aches and pains are age-appropriate. Fighting it is denying the natural aging process.
"Who satisfies your mouth with good things, so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's."
-- Psalm 103:5World system teaching that decay is normal and expected, making deterioration inevitable, contradicting Scripture's promise of strength renewed like the eagle's.
All her friends are dealing with similar issues and doctors treat fifty-something complaints as standard aging. Culture normalizes decline and accepting it feels realistic rather than delusional.
At 85 years old, after wandering in the wilderness for 40 years, Caleb declared 'I am as strong this day as I was when Moses sent me; as my strength was THEN, so my strength is NOW.' He then conquered mountain territory and drove out giants.
I REFUSE the lie that age makes pain inevitable. IT IS WRITTEN in Psalm 103:5 that God RENEWS my youth like the eagle's—not preserves memories of youth, RENEWS it in present tense. Caleb at 85 had the same strength as at 40 and conquered mountains. Moses at 120 had undiminished eyesight and vigor. IT IS WRITTEN in Isaiah 40:31 that those who wait on the Lord RENEW their strength—not 'cope with declining strength' but RENEW it. The BARAK blessing doesn't have an expiration date or age limit. I am under covenant that declares I'm blessed coming in and going out, in youth AND in maturity. My latter years will be greater than my former years. I'm not declining; I'm RENEWING.
Your Father isn't shrugging at your age-related pain as if it's inevitable. He's the God who renewed Sarah's womb at 90 and strengthened Caleb at 85—He's running toward you with youth-renewing power because age is no obstacle to Him.
