"I've lived with this pain so long, God must want me to bear it for His glory."
How it sounds in your head: Maybe Paul's thorn was physical pain too. Maybe this is my cross to carry, my way to identify with Christ's suffering. The spiritual ones say 'glory through suffering'—perhaps my testimony is endurance, not healing.
"By His stripes we are healed."
-- Isaiah 53:5Religious teaching that sanctifies suffering, making Jesus' stripes insufficient and pain a badge of holiness.
Decades of unanswered prayer create theological explanations—'God must want this' feels safer than 'Why hasn't He answered?' Cultural Christianity glorifies suffering more than celebrating healing.
Twelve years of hemorrhaging, countless physicians, total poverty from medical costs—'immediately the fountain of her blood was dried up.' Not gradual improvement, not learning to cope—IMMEDIATE cessation the moment she touched His garment.
I REFUSE the lie that pain glorifies God. IT IS WRITTEN: 'By His stripes we ARE healed'—completed transaction, not ongoing suffering. Jesus bore my pain so I don't have to. IT IS WRITTEN: 'He sent His word and healed them'—Psalm 107:20. I am under the BARAK blessing of Deuteronomy 28—health is covenant promise, not conditional reward. My freedom glorifies Him MORE than endurance. I receive the same IMMEDIATE healing the woman with 12-year hemorrhage received. Pain, LEAVE NOW.
The Father isn't watching you suffer with approval—He's weeping with you while holding out the cure. Like the prodigal's father who didn't make his son 'learn through consequences,' your Father has ALREADY provided healing through Christ's stripes. He's not impressed by your endurance; He's inviting you to REST in finished work.
