"This pain is punishment for how I lived in my younger years. I deserve this."
How it sounds in your head: You weren't always walking with God. You made choices—sexual, relational, substance-related—that you knew were wrong. Now your body is paying the price. This feels like consequence, maybe even justice. You had your fun; now comes the bill.
"I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; and I will not remember your sins."
-- Isaiah 43:25Enemy twisting consequences into condemnation and presenting God as punisher rather than redeemer.
The timeline seems to connect—you lived hard, now you hurt. Cause and effect feels undeniable. Even if God forgave you, your body remembers, and pain feels like the natural price.
This man was a CRIMINAL being executed for his crimes—his past was literally killing him. He had no time to make amends, no opportunity to prove change. Jesus gave him instant paradise based on NOTHING but a moment of faith, proving past sin doesn't disqualify you from immediate blessing.
I REFUSE the lie that my past disqualifies my present healing. IT IS WRITTEN that God blots out my transgressions for HIS sake and will not remember my sins—if HE doesn't remember, I won't either. As far as east is from west, He has REMOVED my transgressions. The thief on the cross had a criminal past and received instant paradise. IT IS WRITTEN in 2 Corinthians 5:17 that I am a NEW creation—old things, including old consequences, have PASSED AWAY. I am not under punishment; I am under the BARAK blessing that covered Judah when he slept with his daughter-in-law thinking she was a prostitute, and he STILL remained in the Messianic line. My Father runs toward me with healing, not away with a ledger.
Your Father doesn't see your past when He looks at you—He sees the blood that made you righteous. The prodigal wasted everything on prostitutes and came home smelling like pigs, and the father threw a PARTY, not a lecture. Your past is in the pig pen. Your healing is in the Father's house, and He's running toward you with it.
