"I deserve this pain because of how I treated my body when I was younger."
How it sounds in your head: I smoked. I didn't exercise. I ate poorly. I stressed myself out for decades. This pain is just the consequence of my choices. I made my bed; now I have to lie in it.
"I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; and I will not remember your sins."
-- Isaiah 43:25Karma theology dressed as Christianity—the lie that you must reap painful consequences even under the New Covenant of grace.
Cause-and-effect is observable. Lifestyle choices do have health impacts. When religious voices say 'you reap what you sow,' it sounds biblical, and guilt provides a neat explanation for suffering.
Five failed marriages, currently living with a man not her husband—a lifetime of broken choices. Jesus didn't say 'suffer the consequences'—He offered her LIVING WATER, instant transformation, and made her the first evangelist to her city. No penalty. No waiting period. Immediate restoration.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm paying for my past. IT IS WRITTEN that God has blotted out my transgressions and will NOT REMEMBER my sins. Jesus took EVERY consequence of my poor choices at Calvary—I don't get punished for what He already paid for. IT IS WRITTEN in Colossians 2:14 that He wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against me, nailing it to the cross. My past does not dictate my present. The BARAK blessing is mine by covenant, not by perfect health habits. I am the righteousness of God IN CHRIST, and that righteousness includes divine health. The blood of Jesus speaks BETTER THINGS than my past mistakes. I am HEALED, WHOLE, and RESTORED—not by my merit but by HIS GRACE.
The Father isn't making you suffer for past choices—He sent Jesus to bear those consequences so you could walk free. While religion says 'you made your bed,' He says 'I've prepared a NEW bed in the banqueting house, and My banner over you is LOVE.'
