"True believers get healed completely and don't need maintenance medications forever."
How it sounds in your head: I've prayed for thirty years about these conditions. If God really heard me, wouldn't I be off these medications by now? Maybe I'm doing something wrong spiritually, or there's hidden sin blocking my healing.
"And He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
-- 2 Corinthians 12:9Religious teaching that makes ongoing medical needs evidence of insufficient faith or unconfessed sin.
The testimonies at church are always about complete healings, never about faithful saints managing conditions with grace. After this many years following God, shouldn't my body reflect total victory?
Paul had a thorn in the flesh he prayed about three times for removal. God's answer wasn't healing but sufficient grace to live powerfully with the condition. Paul wrote most of the New Testament while managing an ongoing physical limitation.
I REFUSE the lie that maintained health means lesser faith. IT IS WRITTEN that God told Paul 'My grace is sufficient' for an ongoing condition, and Paul wrote Scripture with that thorn still present. I am not waiting for permission to live fully—I am living in the abundance Christ provided through every means available. IT IS WRITTEN in Deuteronomy 28:6 that I am blessed coming in and going out, and every doctor's appointment is a 'going out' covered by covenant blessing. The barak that protected Abraham when he lied protects me as I manage my health wisely. I boast in God's grace sustaining me daily.
Your Father is running toward you celebrating that you're faithfully taking what sustains you, not withholding a better healing until you 'level up' spiritually. He sees a daughter wisely stewarding her years, and He's supplying strength for every single day—medication included.
