"Tithing is Old Testament law that doesn't apply to New Covenant believers."
How it sounds in your head: Jesus fulfilled the law, so I'm not under Mosaic requirements anymore. Tithing was for Israel's theocracy. New Testament just says give cheerfully, not a mandatory 10%.
"Here mortal men receive tithes, but there he receives them, of whom it is witnessed that he lives."
-- Hebrews 7:8Source: hyper-grace teaching that throws out blessing structure with legalistic bathwater.
Galatians says we're not under law, and nowhere does Paul command tithing. It feels more honest to give what I want rather than follow religious obligation from Leviticus.
Gave Melchizedek a tenth of ALL spoils after rescuing Lot—no law existed yet, purely relational worship. Immediately after, God appeared and said 'I am your SHIELD and EXCEEDINGLY GREAT REWARD'—the blessing magnified.
I REFUSE the lie that tithing is dead religious obligation. IT IS WRITTEN that I give tithes to JESUS who lives—this is New Covenant participation, not Old Covenant bondage. Abraham tithed before Moses, and I am his seed through Christ. The BARAK blessing that made Abraham wealthy through covenant is MINE by the blood. IT IS WRITTEN in Hebrews 7:8 that my tithe reaches the LIVING HIGH PRIEST. I'm not under law—I'm under FAVOR. I don't tithe to earn blessing; I tithe because I'm ALREADY blessed and joining God's distribution system.
Jesus isn't waiting for you to figure out percentages—He's inviting you into the family business of supernatural supply. The Father gave the returning prodigal ACCESS TO EVERYTHING, not a budget plan.
