You've literally witnessed or heard about pastors living lavishly while church members struggle, and the prosperity gospel abuses are real and documented. Your suspicion feels like discernment protecting you from being used, and some of that suspicion is valid.
Cornelius was a Roman centurion who gave 'alms generously' to Jewish people even before knowing the full gospel. An angel appeared and said 'Your prayers and your alms have come up for a memorial before God,' resulting in his household's salvation and the gospel going to Gentiles - giving preceded and unlocked breakthrough.
I REFUSE the lie that tithing is manipulation. IT IS WRITTEN that God invites me to TRY HIM - to test His faithfulness in this. Yes, some leaders abuse authority, but my obedience is between me and my Father. I will not rob God to punish bad pastors. I am under the BARAK blessing - blessed in city and field, in storehouses and barns. IT IS WRITTEN that my giving comes up as a memorial before God like Cornelius's. I choose a church or ministry with integrity and give in faith. I declare Malachi 3:11 over my life - God rebukes the devourer for my sake. I am financially protected, supernaturally provided for, and Heaven's windows are OPEN over me right now.
The Father isn't manipulating you through guilt - He's inviting you to 'try Him,' to test His goodness, while running toward you with blessing that doesn't depend on human leaders being perfect. He sees your heart and celebrates your trust despite witnessing abuse.
