"It's foolish stewardship to give money when I'm already behind on bills"
How it sounds in your head: You're a grown woman who's managed money for decades. Giving when you're in the red is just bad math. Take care of your own household first—isn't that what Scripture says? The church will be fine. You need to be responsible and wise with what little you have.
"Then he said, 'Go, borrow vessels from everywhere, from all your neighbors—empty vessels; do not gather just a few. And when you have come in, you shall shut the door behind you and your sons; then pour it into all those vessels, and set aside the full ones.' So she went from him and shut the door behind her and her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured it out. Now it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said to her son, 'Bring me another vessel.' And he said to her, 'There is not another vessel.' So the oil ceased. Then she went and told the man of God. And he said, 'Go, sell the oil and pay your debt; and you and your sons live on the rest.'"
-- 2 Kings 4:3-7World's wisdom masquerading as stewardship, making natural logic override supernatural promise.
Dave Ramsey says get out of debt before increasing giving. Your bills are real and due dates don't wait. It feels irresponsible—even embarrassing—to give away money you technically don't have.
She owed so much debt that creditors were literally coming to take her sons as SLAVES—total financial catastrophe with no human solution. The prophet told her to pour out her last jar of oil, and it multiplied supernaturally until ALL her debt was paid and she had surplus to live on—instant, complete debt cancellation in ONE afternoon.
I REFUSE the lie that bills come before obedience. IT IS WRITTEN that I honor the Lord with my FIRSTFRUITS, not my leftovers. The widow poured out her last and watched it multiply until lifetime debt was CANCELLED. I am a branch connected to the VINE—I don't produce through striving; I receive through ABIDING. IT IS WRITTEN in Luke 6:38 that when I give, it shall be given to me—good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over. My giving isn't foolishness; it's SEED in supernatural soil. I am under the BARAK blessing that made Abraham rich even when he lied. God is not a man that He should lie—if He said He'll supply, He'll supply. I am BLESSED in my coming and going!
The Father sees your bills and says, 'Give me the seed and watch Me handle the harvest!' He didn't wait for the widow to clean up her finances—He interrupted her crisis with a MIRACLE. He's not asking you to figure it out first; He's asking for your YES so He can show up as Jehovah Jireh, your Provider, the One who multiplies what you thought was too little.
