"I'll give when I get out of debt or have more financial security."
How it sounds in your head: I've got medical bills piling up and I might need to move to assisted living soon. It would be irresponsible to give when I don't know what my care is going to cost. Once things stabilize, then I can think about giving.
"Honor the Lord with your possessions, and with the firstfruits of all your increase; so your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine."
-- Proverbs 3:9-10Religion teaches 'get your house in order first, THEN give'—putting human wisdom above kingdom economy and locking you out of supernatural provision.
His expenses are genuinely unpredictable with health declining, and financial advisors would absolutely recommend securing his own future first. It feels like wise stewardship.
A widow drowning in debt with creditors coming to take her sons as slaves had only one jar of oil. She gave/poured first, and God multiplied that oil until EVERY vessel in the neighborhood was full—enough to pay ALL her debt with surplus to live on.
I REFUSE the lie that security comes before generosity. IT IS WRITTEN that I honor the Lord with FIRSTFRUITS, and my barns are filled with plenty. I don't give FROM blessing—I give INTO blessing. The widow with oil gave first and saw supernatural multiplication that paid LIFETIME debt in one afternoon. IT IS WRITTEN in Philippians 4:19 that my God supplies ALL my needs according to His riches in glory. Medical bills don't limit God's provision. I am blessed with the BARAK of Abraham—blessed coming in and going out, with enemies defeated before me. I sow in faith, not in fear.
The Father isn't waiting for you to balance your budget—He's RUNNING toward you with oil that multiplies in the pouring. Like the prodigal who came home broke and broken, you receive the fattened calf before you've earned a single meal.
