"Tithing is Old Testament law that doesn't apply to grace"
How it sounds in your head: We're not under law anymore, we're under grace. Tithing was a commandment for Israel, not the church. Paul never commanded tithing. This feels like legalism dressed up as obedience.
"Here mortal men receive tithes, but there he receives them, of whom it is witnessed that he lives."
-- Hebrews 7:8Source: Religion twisting freedom into license, blocking access to covenant blessing structure
She's read Galatians and knows we're not under law. The New Testament doesn't explicitly command 10%, and she's heard teachers say tithing is bondage. It feels like she's being spiritually manipulated.
Abraham gave a tenth to Melchizedek 430 years before the law existed, purely from relationship and honor. Immediately after, God appeared and said 'I am your shield, your EXCEEDINGLY GREAT REWARD'—supernatural increase followed his giving.
I REFUSE the lie that tithing is obsolete legalism. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus Himself affirmed tithing, and Hebrews declares He LIVES and receives tithes NOW. I am not giving from obligation—I am giving from sonship, from the BARAK blessing that was Abraham's by covenant, not law. I am Abraham's seed through Christ, heir according to PROMISE. IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed coming in and going out, in the city and in the field. Giving isn't my burden—it's my ACCESS to the open windows of heaven that religion tried to close with fear.
The Father isn't trapping you with requirements—He's inviting you into the family business of generosity that flows FROM love, not FOR love. He gave His Son; now He's showing you the JOY of being like Him, not the DUTY of earning from Him.
