"This diagnosis is punishment for a lifetime of mistakes and hidden sins."
How it sounds in your head: I can think of a dozen things I never made right. The affair in 1973 that nobody knows about. The business deal where I cut corners. The years I put career before family. Now, in my final season, the bill has come due. This cancer, this pain—it's cosmic payback. God's been keeping a ledger all these years.
"And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross."
-- Colossians 2:13-14Religion + trauma: Karma theology disguised as Christianity; God presented as cosmic accountant settling scores at life's end.
He's carried guilt for decades, never fully believing it was forgiven. The timing feels connected—decades of sin, now a terminal diagnosis. Religion taught him 'you reap what you sow,' and this feels like harvest time.
Manasseh was Judah's MOST EVIL king—burned his own sons as sacrifices, filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, led the nation into occult practices for 55 years. When captured and imprisoned, he repented, and God not only forgave him but RESTORED him to his throne and gave him more years to undo his damage.
I REFUSE the lie that this diagnosis is punishment for my past. IT IS WRITTEN in Colossians 2:14 that God wiped out the handwriting of requirements against me and nailed it to the cross—there is NO LEDGER. Manasseh burned his own children as sacrifices and filled Jerusalem with blood, yet God forgave and RESTORED him when he repented. IT IS WRITTEN in Romans 8:1 there is NO CONDEMNATION for those in Christ Jesus. The thief on the cross had hours of righteousness and eternity of reward—timing isn't the issue, JESUS is. I stand under the BARAK blessing that protected LIARS, DECEIVERS, and MURDERERS—how much more does Christ's blood cover me?
Father isn't reviewing your file looking for reasons to strike you down—He's the prodigal's Father who RAN to embrace you while you still smelled like pig pens. Every sin you're remembering was dealt with at the cross; He's not bringing them up now because He FORGOT them (Hebrews 8:12).
