"The only reason to go to church is guilt and obligation, not because God actually wants me there."
How it sounds in your head: They say 'God wants a relationship,' but it feels like He just wants me to show up on Sunday. It's all rules about attendance and serving and giving. If I miss a week, I feel guilty. That's not relationship—that's obligation.
"For I desire mercy and not sacrifice, and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings."
-- Hosea 6:6Source: religious performance system - reducing relationship to attendance and compliance.
Church became about checking boxes rather than connection, making her believe God's main concern is her attendance record rather than her heart.
A corrupt tax collector who just wanted to SEE Jesus, didn't even ask for an encounter. Jesus INVITED HIMSELF to Zacchaeus' house—not the synagogue, HIS HOUSE—and salvation came that day.
I REFUSE the lie that God wants obligation from me. IT IS WRITTEN that He desires KNOWLEDGE of Him, not burnt offerings—He wants to be KNOWN. I am SOUGHT by the Father who seeks true worshipers. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus invited Himself to Zacchaeus' house—not the temple, the HOUSE. God wants dinner-table relationship, not attendance charts. I am Abraham's seed, and the BARAK blessing was about COVENANT, not compliance. The Father is seeking ME, not my Sunday morning presence—He wants my heart, and He's already invited Himself to my table.
While you're climbing a tree just hoping for a glimpse, the Father is stopping underneath and inviting Himself to your house—today, right now, not Sunday. Salvation comes to your home when He comes, not when you show up at His building.
