"The best years with my child are gone forever; I'll never get them back."
How it sounds in your head: Weddings we'll never attend. Grandkids I may never meet. Holidays with an empty chair. All the milestones happening without us. The relationship I wanted with my adult child is dead.
"Return to the stronghold, you prisoners of hope. Even today I declare that I will restore double to you."
-- Zechariah 9:12Enemy's theft of hope—convincing you the lost years are lost forever, denying God's resurrection power over dead dreams.
The calendar doesn't lie. Years have passed. Life events happened without you. The ache of absence is cumulative, and every missed birthday adds evidence that the dream is dead.
Job lost everything—all children dead, health destroyed, wealth gone, wife told him to curse God. After his trial, God restored DOUBLE his possessions, gave him new children, and he lived 140 more years seeing four generations—the LATTER part of his life was more blessed than the beginning.
I REFUSE the lie that the best years are gone. IT IS WRITTEN that God restores DOUBLE what was stolen—not just recovery but MULTIPLICATION. The years the locust has eaten WILL be restored. I am a prisoner of HOPE, not a prisoner of loss. IT IS WRITTEN in Ephesians 3:20 that God is able to do EXCEEDINGLY ABUNDANTLY above all I ask or think. The relationship I'll have with my child in the future can EXCEED what I dreamed in the past. The BARAK blessing promises that my latter days will be greater than my former—I will lend and not borrow in every area, including TIME with my child.
The Father doesn't just give you back what you lost—He gives you something BETTER, because that's who He is. The prodigal's father didn't lament the lost years; he celebrated the RETURN, and the feast was sweeter than anything they'd shared before.
