"God is punishing me through my child's rebellion."
How it sounds in your head: You remember your own rebellion years. The choices you made before you came to faith. Maybe this is payback—you reap what you sow. Your past has come back to haunt you through your child. God is giving you what you deserve.
"And His disciples asked Him, saying, 'Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?' Jesus answered, 'Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him.'"
-- John 9:2-3Old Covenant karma theology, directly contradicted by Jesus who said He didn't come to condemn and took all punishment at the cross.
The parallel is too close to ignore. They're making similar choices you made, dating the same type of person you dated, running to the same things you ran to. It feels like poetic justice. Your own mother's fears for you are now yours for them.
She had five failed marriages and was living with a man who wasn't her husband—publicly shameful past. Jesus didn't condemn or punish her; He gave her living water and made her the first evangelist to her entire city. Her past became the platform for testimony, not punishment.
I REFUSE the lie that God punishes me through my child. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus said suffering is not about past sin—it's setup for God's glory to be revealed. My past is under the blood. IT IS WRITTEN that there is NOW no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus—not some condemnation, not conditional condemnation, NONE. The BARAK blessing breaks curses and generational patterns. What the enemy meant to repeat as curse, God is transforming into testimony. My child's return will prove grace is stronger than patterns.
The Father isn't punishing you—He's rescuing BOTH of you. While you've been drowning in guilt, He's been planning a double redemption that will heal your past wounds through your child's restoration. He wastes nothing, especially not pain, and He's turning your entire story into proof of scandalous grace.
