"My son's rebellion is proof I failed as a father and ruined his destiny."
How it sounds in your head: You see his friends thriving while he's out there wasting his life. Every decision you made—where you lived, how you disciplined, working too much—it all led to this. Other dads got it right. You didn't. Now he's paying for your failures and there's no coming back from that kind of damage.
"The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself."
-- Ezekiel 18:20Religion says children's outcomes are the report card on your parenting, making you God instead of trusting God.
You can trace specific moments where you chose wrong—missed games, harsh words, the divorce—and now his choices seem like direct consequences. Society measures a man's success by his children's outcomes, and right now that measurement says you failed.
Eli was a priest whose sons were corrupt, sleeping with women at the temple entrance, and he couldn't stop them—yet God still used his spiritual son Samuel mightily. Even when biological children rebel, God's purposes aren't destroyed and He raises up spiritual legacy.
I REFUSE the lie that my son's rebellion is my permanent failure. IT IS WRITTEN: 'The son shall not bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear the guilt of the son.' His choices are between him and God. I am covered by the blood of Jesus, and so is he. Every mistake I made is under the cross. IT IS WRITTEN: 'All your children shall be taught by the LORD, and great shall be the peace of your children' (Isaiah 54:13). The BARAK blessing over my household cannot be broken by my imperfection—it's based on COVENANT, not performance. I declare his return is already in motion.
The Father is running toward your son right now, even while he still smells like the pig pen. He's been preparing the fattened calf the entire time your son has been gone, because He knew the end from the beginning—and the end is REUNION.
