"My spiritual struggles prove the enemy has authority over me."
How it sounds in your head: If I was really saved, I wouldn't still be dealing with this. The fact that I'm tempted so heavily and fall so often must mean Satan has some legal right over me. Maybe I'm not really born again.
"He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love."
-- Colossians 1:13Source: religious teaching that measures salvation by struggle-free living rather than by faith in Christ's finished work.
He's been taught that real Christians have victory, so his ongoing struggles feel like proof of counterfeit faith. The intensity of his temptations seems too strong for someone supposedly indwelt by the Holy Spirit.
Satan demanded permission to sift Peter like wheat, and Jesus let him—Peter denied Jesus three times that night. But Jesus said, 'I have PRAYED for you, that your faith should not fail.' Peter's failure didn't give Satan authority—Jesus maintained Peter's position through intercession.
I REFUSE the lie that my struggles give the enemy authority over me. IT IS WRITTEN in Colossians 1:13 that I have been DELIVERED from the power of darkness and brought into Christ's kingdom. The enemy has NO legal right to me—I am bought with the BLOOD. My temptations don't prove Satan's ownership—they prove I'm a THREAT to his kingdom. IT IS WRITTEN in 1 Corinthians 10:13 that I face no temptation uncommon to man, and God provides the way of escape. I am not under darkness's authority—I am a SON OF LIGHT sealed by the Holy Spirit.
Your Father sees you battling and He's not questioning your position in His family—He's interceding for you like Jesus did for Peter, holding your faith secure while you learn to walk in the authority you already possess. Your struggles don't disqualify you—they're proof you're worth fighting for.
