"My questions mean I'm losing my faith and God is disappointed in me."
How it sounds in your head: Every time I question something my youth pastor said or wonder if a Bible story really happened, I feel this pit in my stomach like I'm betraying God. My parents would be devastated if they knew I'm struggling with doubt. I must be becoming one of those 'backsliders' everyone warns about.
"Then Gideon said to God, 'If You will save Israel by my hand as You have said—look, I shall put a fleece of wool on the threshing floor; if there is dew on the fleece only, and it is dry on all the ground, then I shall know that You will save Israel by my hand, as You have said.' And it was so... Then Gideon said to God, 'Do not be angry with me, but let me speak just once more: Let me test, I pray, just once more with the fleece.'"
-- Judges 6:36-40Religious spirit teaching that questioning equals rebellion, weaponizing faith as fragile performance instead of secure relationship.
She's been taught that 'good Christians' have unwavering certainty, and every spiritual leader she knows speaks with total confidence. Her questions feel like evidence of spiritual failure compared to their apparent certainty.
Gideon was called 'mighty warrior' but asked for proof—twice. He literally said 'don't be angry' while testing God a second time. God answered both tests without rebuke and used him to save Israel.
I REFUSE the lie that my questions disqualify me from God's love. IT IS WRITTEN that Gideon tested God twice and God answered him both times without anger. My questions don't threaten my Father—they invite deeper revelation. IT IS WRITTEN in John 20:27 that Jesus specifically showed up for Thomas the doubter. I am Abraham's seed through Christ, and the BARAK blessing protected Abraham even when he lied—how much more does it hold me when I'm honestly seeking truth? My faith is not fragile performance; it's secure sonship.
Your Father is running toward you WITH answers, not away from you in disappointment. He knew every question you'd ever ask before you were born, and He's not intimidated by a single one—He's inviting you deeper into knowing Him, not performing for Him.
