"The church has done too much harm; I can't be part of it."
How it sounds in your head: Crusades. Inquisition. Colonization. Abuse scandals. LGBTQ rejection. The church has been on the wrong side of history repeatedly. How can you align yourself with an institution that's caused this much damage? Good people are LEAVING, not staying.
"And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it."
-- Matthew 16:18Enemy using the sins of religious institutions to separate from the Body of Christ; world conflating the Bride with her abusers.
You've read the history, seen the headlines, maybe experienced church hurt personally. The institutional failures are REAL, and associating with 'the church' feels like endorsing the harm.
Paul confronted horrific sin in the Corinthian church—sexual immorality worse than pagans—and told them to remove the man. Later, he told them to RESTORE him with forgiveness and comfort. Paul didn't abandon the broken church; he called her to repentance and STAYED.
I REFUSE the lie that the church's failures disqualify her. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus is BUILDING His church, and the gates of hell will NOT prevail—He's not giving up, and neither am I. Paul confronted Corinthian sin and called them to repentance, but he didn't LEAVE—he stayed and saw transformation. The abuses are the counterfeit, not the Bride, and Jesus is presenting her WITHOUT spot or wrinkle. IT IS WRITTEN in 1 John 4:20, 'If someone says, I love God, and hates his brother, he is a liar'—I can't love Jesus and reject His Body. I declare: I'm part of the REFORM, not the exodus, and the Father is cleansing His house. The BARAK blessing makes me a BUILDER, not a critic from the outside.
The Father isn't blind to the church's sins—He's grieved by them and actively purifying her, and He's inviting you to be part of the HEALING, not the abandonment. You don't have to defend the indefensible; you just have to stay connected to the Vine and be part of the fruit that proves His goodness.
