"I wasted my life serving a God who might not even be real."
How it sounds in your head: What if it was all a comforting myth? I gave decades to church, mission work, raising kids 'in the Lord.' If I'm wrong, I squandered the only life I had on an imaginary friend. That terrifies me more than dying.
"For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day."
-- 2 Timothy 1:12Enemy's final assault: make faithfulness feel like foolishness when it's actually the only thing that lasts forever.
Facing death makes everything feel uncertain. She sees friends who lived for themselves seemingly as content, and wonders if her sacrifices were naive. Doubt at life's end feels like ultimate tragic irony.
Simeon waited his ENTIRE LIFE for the Messiah, promised he wouldn't die until he saw Him. In his final years, holding baby Jesus, he said 'Now let Your servant depart in peace...for my eyes have seen Your salvation.' A lifetime of waiting confirmed in one moment.
I REFUSE the lie that my life of faith was wasted. IT IS WRITTEN that Paul KNEW whom he believed even facing execution, and he wasn't ashamed. IT IS WRITTEN that Christ IS risen—if He rose, everything I gave matters eternally. Simeon waited a lifetime and saw salvation in his final years. I have seen God's faithfulness in 80 years of walking with Him. I am Abraham's heir under the BARAK blessing—my investment is in a Kingdom that outlasts all earthly kingdoms. Even if I doubted every day, 'He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself' (2 Tim 2:13). My certainty isn't required; HIS faithfulness is guaranteed. I didn't waste my life; I invested it in eternity.
The Father isn't waiting for you to die and discover you were wrong—He's preparing to welcome you Home and show you that every moment of faithfulness mattered more than you imagined. Your investment is secure in Him.
