"My peers who succeeded are more blessed or favored by God than I am."
How it sounds in your head: You go to church with guys who are comfortable, retired, secure. They must be more faithful, more blessed. God obviously favors them more. You're in the same service praising the same God, but He came through for them and not you. Maybe you're just not one of His favorites.
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love."
-- Ephesians 1:3-4Enemy creating comparison-based identity and prosperity gospel that measures God's love by financial outcomes.
The comparison is unavoidable—same age, same church, vastly different outcomes. Prosperity theology has taught his generation that wealth equals blessing equals God's favor, making his failure seem like divine rejection.
Lazarus was a beggar covered in sores while the rich man wore purple and fine linen daily. Yet when both died, Lazarus went to Abraham's side while the rich man went to torment—earthly wealth didn't measure God's favor.
I REFUSE the lie that others are more blessed or favored than me. IT IS WRITTEN in Ephesians 1:3-4 that God blessed me with EVERY spiritual blessing in Christ before the foundation of the world—past tense, already mine. God shows no partiality. IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed coming in and going out, the head and not the tail. My blessing isn't measured by comparison to others but by position IN CHRIST. The BARAK blessing that made Abraham wealthy is mine by blood covenant, not by current circumstances. My Father loves me with the same love He has for Jesus. I am fully favored, fully blessed, fully loved—RIGHT NOW.
Your Father isn't playing favorites with your peers—He gave you the same Son, the same blood, the same blessing. The prodigal got the same robe and ring and party as the older brother who never left, because the Father's love isn't distributed based on track record.
