"My needs in a relationship are unreasonable and I'm asking for too much."
How it sounds in your head: She says you're needy. You want consistent communication, emotional connection, and quality time - apparently that's too much. Friends say you're high maintenance. Maybe you should just be grateful someone's with you at all instead of having standards.
"And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus."
-- Philippians 4:19Source: trauma - past relationships where legitimate needs were branded as unreasonable created internalized belief that wanting anything is too much.
Multiple people across multiple relationships have said your needs are too much. When the feedback is consistent, it must be accurate. Maybe you really are asking for more than reasonable.
Had PERFECT relationship with God in paradise, still needed human companionship. God didn't rebuke him for being needy - He CREATED Eve specifically to meet that need. Legitimate need met immediately.
I REFUSE the lie that my needs are too much. IT IS WRITTEN that God supplies ALL my needs according to HIS riches in glory. He designed me for CONNECTION and called that need GOOD. My desire for emotional intimacy, communication, and quality time isn't excessive - it's HUMAN. IT IS WRITTEN in Genesis 2:18 that God Himself said it's not good to be alone. The BARAK blessing over me means the RIGHT person is equipped to LOVE meeting my needs. I am not too much; I am WORTHY of having needs met.
The Father is running toward you with SOMEONE EQUIPPED TO MEET YOUR NEEDS, not asking you to settle for crumbs. While the wrong person calls you high maintenance, the RIGHT person will say 'Finally, someone who wants real connection!'
